“Our home is even more than we dreamed it could be, thanks to Mountain Homes’ superb craftsmanship and eye for detail. They took our ideas, improved on them, and brought their own creativity to the process.”— The Colvard Family
Home Plans & Engineering
At Mountain Log Homes we offer custom outside design and engineering services for your dream home or project. We can provide custom drawings in an AutoCAD or Revit format that are suitable for permit submittal. The design firm we use works closely with the engineer to design and detail a plan that works. We can also customize any plan we already have to work for you and your building site. Costs for design work typically range from $1.00 to $1.50 per square foot.
The engineering firm we use is based in Portland Oregon, and can stamp designs in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. We have worked exclusively with the same firm for 10 years, establishing an efficient style and set of details that keeps your project on budget and on time. Costs for engineering typically range from $1.50 to $2.00 per square foot.
We work very closely with both the designer and the engineer to ensure your project is exactly what you want. We begin with a design meeting where we discuss the scope and budget of the project. Next we create a proposal for the client that outlines all work to be performed as well as a timeline. Once we have a signed proposal, we will generate a preliminary set of plans for your review. These can be emailed for speed and efficiency. After this review, we will generate a 30% progress set of drawings for review. At this point all final changes are made and the overall concept is accepted. We then produce a 90% set followed by the permit set. This total process typically takes between 2 and 8 weeks depending on the scope of the project. We design many different types of projects, including full log homes, log accented homes, log pavilions, commercial projects and log roof systems.
